At 17, Javier already knew his destiny was to become a light designer. A deep curiosity about how objects were created inspired him to begin transforming materials into everyday objects. In each of his lights, he seeks to unearth the soul of the designed object. A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Javier has worked and collaborated with esteemed art directors and designers from around the world.

Tell us about your studio/workspace
My workspace is like organized chaos. I am always playing music and prefer a lot of natural light, although I am often working well into the night. At the moment, there is only one light where I am, but maybe, since I’m dedicated to designing decorative lighting…
What inspires you (in design or in life)?
Life itself is my inspiration.
What is your design philosophy?
I don’t have a concrete philosophy. I build as a I see, feel, and listen. It all depends on my mood.
What are some unique things about you?
When I have a good idea, I live in a state of constant anxiety until I see the final result.
What's a crazy, pie-in-the-sky dream you have?
See that people want to copy a creation of mine.
What are some goals you have for your career?
The opportunity to transmit feeling in an object, functional or not.
What led you to become a designer?
The need to find solutions to everyday problems at work.
