After graduating from Instituto Europeo de Diseño (IED) in Barcelona, I became a father of two amazing twins, Leonardo and Alma and named my design studio after them. I resolved to always do my best to teach them how to find the right path in life. To always use their common sense but never lose the ability to follow their hearts and chase their dreams. To keep safe but not to be afraid to take risks. Have compassion and know how to love but be assertive and tough when needed. Accept themselves for who they are and know that their flaws can co-exist with their virtues. That the negative exists to intensify the positive. That rigidness can lay the foundation for tenderness and the hard can lay the foundation for the easy. Ambivalence is in every decision we make in life. We are all contradictory creatures and life is a melting pot of opposites. Finding the perfect balance of contrasts creates harmony and harmony makes life better. In my work, I translate this notion into design. Rigid and soft, bright and dark, masculine and feminine, straight and curved, robust and fragile. Contrasts are the tools and harmony is the objective. I start my design process from an abstract idea and cultivate it carefully. Investigating all aspects and taking countless trips back to the drawing board. I don’t rest until I reach this harmony. The point where the contrasts fuse and become one. Where everything falls into place. This is my way of establishing quality and aesthetics as center pillars of my work. I create objects that are constant reminders that harmony is a choice and it is always the better option.
